Ambulatory & EEG Technologist

The primary responsibility is to perform ambulatory EEG studies in clinics, nursing homes, and patient homes.
The Ambulatory EEG Technologist will perform EEG procedures according to company policies and procedures; will maintain patient safety during clinically significant events and other related duties. Communication skills are essential for this position. During EEG procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the Ambulatory EEG Technologist will train under direct technical supervision. Once training is completed and all required competencies have been achieved, the neurophysiologist works under indirect technical supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures electrode application in adherence with the International 1020 System.
- Knowledgeable in correct EEG performance and recognition of clinically significant events and follows policy and procedures regarding critical test results.
- Maintains patients safety through communication for duration of the study.
- Continues to learn and apply basic and intermediate EEG waveform recognition, relevant medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control, current HIPPA practices, contraindications for activation procedures, instrumentation, and preparation for use.
- Performs patient assessment as related to care, such as electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function.
- Communicates appropriately and effectively with the patient and healthcare staff to convey the purpose of the EEG and answers questions regarding the procedure.
- Understands why and how to maintain correct electrode connections.Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
- Understands and follows concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety within the AEEG unit.
- Has knowledge of alternate montages, protocols, and alternate equipment settings and their effects should be applied.
- Contacts supervisory staff as appropriate for problems within the AEEG unit, as well as supply needs.
- Performs any other related duties that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level

Ambulatory EEG Technologist

Responsibilities:
- Complies with HIPPA regulations with regard to patient confidentiality.

- Follows the American Society of EEG Technology guidelines while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

- ReQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a valid drivers license, automobile, and proof of insurance. One year of experience in the field is preferred.
- Registration through ABRET is preferred. Must be currently CPR certified.
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to pull, push and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must have strong communication skills, timely responses to requests from management, and efficient, effective outside the box suggestions for improvements.
- Experience with multiple set-up systems ( Xltek, Nihon Kohden, etc Trackit) Preferred but not required.

The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technologist of Clinical Neurophysiology Services reports to the Manager of Clinical Neurophysiology Services. Under the indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator or MD, the Inpatient EEG Technologist records neurophysiologic potentials by means of electronic equipment for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. This position demonstrates competence and must be immediately available to provide assistance during all procedures.
EEG Tech II Qualifications:
- Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program of Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technology; or eligible for National Board Certification; or any combination of education and experience that warrants eligibility for National Board Certification required.
- Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

- Education:

- OR Graduate of a Neurodiagnostic Technology program accredited by the committee on Accreditation for Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (CoA-NDT) and by the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP),
- OR On-the-job training with one (1) year of acute clinical EEG experience.
- Work Experience: At least one (1) year Neurodiagnostic Technologist experience.
- Certification:
- ABRET Registered EEG Technologist, OR, ABRET registry obtained within two (2) years of transfer/hire.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

- Ability to take call acknowledging emergency alerts within five (5) minutes and presenting to hospital within 60 minutes of alert.
