EEG Technologist II

The Neurodiagnostic Tech II role operates electroneurodiagnostic equipment to measure neural potentials for use by providers in diagnosing neurological outcomes. Collects EEG data for routine EEGs, Interventional Radiology, Evoked Potentials, Continuous EEG, and long term epilepsy monitoring in inpatient and outpatient settings.

 

  • ReQUIREMENTS:
    • Education: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology Program and/or registered as a R.EEG-T, R.EPT CNIM, or CLTM by ABRET required.

    • Certification/Licensure: “See Education” Current BLS certification required or must obtain within six months of start date.

    •  Experience: One year of experience in neurodiagnostic field required. Individuals with an Associate’s Degree and/or allied healthcare experience and credentials may be considered at leader’s discretion and would be expected to obtain R.EEG.T credential within one year of employment. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of Neurodiagnostic Tech I role

    • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Proficient in Routine END monitoring and recording as well as LTM by documenting observation of 20 cases and completion of 20 cases while being observed

        • Obtains all relevant information from the patient’s medical record history and progress notes, and transfers this to the technologist’s report.
        • Performs long-term video/EEG monitoring of patients with scalp and intracranial electrodes. Provides accurate and complete management of EEG recordings, including archived record of EEG data.
        • Adheres to the standards of practice for EEG recordings.
        • Assists with the technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long term monitoring, evoked potentials, and intraoperative neuromonitoring.

The technologist must show competencies in Electroencephalograms, and two additional modalities (Long term EEG, Ambulatory EEG, Nerve Conduction Studies, Evoked Potentials and/or Intraoperative Brain Mapping).

       

      Responsibilities:

      • Essential Functions
        • Performs neurological procedures independently and completely.
        • Greets patients and explains testing procedures to them.
        • Facilitates all aspects of study completion, including, taking patient history, necessary paperwork charging, clipping and archiving.
